Di Caprese Animated Poster

Poster Design, Animation, and Compositing

Responsibilities: Design and Animation Direction, Editing, Conceptual Development, Nuke/Compositing Work, & Breakdown Editing

After completing individual filming, I wanted to create a poster and animation that emulated older pasta advertisements circa 1972. Instead of pasta, I chose another staple that I make often - caprese salads.

Final Composite

Filming Plates + Animation

Inside Nuke, I was able to track and combine my footage with the plate I had designed and then filmed.

Breakdown

A demonstration of my process inside After Effects, Nuke, and filming my plates.

Design

Capturing an Aesthetic

I began by designing a poster based on 1960’s Barilla ads, aiming to emulate the simple shapes and calm gradients as the basis for my poster.

Animation

Animatic & Motion Test

Most of my animation process relied on what parts of my footage were going to be used, which dictated when and how I would create transitions and actions between my three designed frames.
